Event Review: Crescendo, date: 11 July 2008... Part2

right, now for another assessment of the performers in part 2 of this mega column...
4. Cultural group: 9/10: they may be the last to perform, but certainly not ranked last....
certainly without a shadow of a doubt, great way to end an event like this in a loud, energetic manner.. the drummers are definitely good, they looked skillful and full of passion (maybe) for their task... the others playing the tune by some Japanese were marvellous! from a rather novice person about performing arts (me), its too much excellence and frankly, i have nothing to
critisize ... 9/10, 1 point off for being too perfect.
5. Dance Club: 9/10: if not for that ghastly make-up,
i'll give it a 10...
Experts Joanne & Sarah said that the Dance Club is worth watching and it does. Mr Benjamin
Quek said they were dynamic, true... it would say, their performance was electrifying. the moves are fluid and powerful; and dare i say sleek as well? ironically, it justified the $10 price tag for the bloody ticket. so you might be thinking, why 9, wilson? is that a tactic to give Choir some face? or is it that you are just being biased?
i am afraid i must highlight here, every performances are flawed... the Choir's fault lies in the lack of visual excitement (yeah right... i even broke out my Cybershot...). the CG's fault is with the conductor who looks like he was dancing rather than conducting. Concert Band members have rather quirky hairstyle and they were overfeatured. even i am flawed yesterday... i am possibly the ugliest there...
as with the Dance Club, they too have problems, their make-up.... its cocked up... the dancers were simply overstyled... if there was some discretion, i would be giving them full marks....
6. Drama Club: 8.5/10: storyline is indeed confusing... i need a Rocket Scientist!
right, now, i clearly remembered hearing huge laughters when the Drama Club performed and when Herman fainted, i took 3 pictures of it at one go. and you've probably guessed it, Herman was BIBLICALLY hilarious to watch. besides, the others were terrific as well... i love the way everything was sooo realistic and feels so unscripted. i specially love the sound effects, they're ruthlessly synchronised with the performers' movements... overall, it could have been a 10/10 still, as i said, every performances were flawed. the Drama Club's foible lies in the storyline of their play. its easy to understand; if you are a rocket scientist.. otherwise, it'll be as easy to understand as Morse Code.
Last Part of my mega column: solo performers reviewed as a whole, my last ditch weapon (my K810i Cybershot phone), Mr Benjamin Quek's speech and assessment of myself as a whole (probably won't go well...)
